Work safety European directives, National legislation and company policies to be efficient cannot avoid the involvement and training of workers during the organization of the work safety system and especially for the process of risk prevention.
The satisfaction of these needs implies:
- general information of all the employees (usually one general meeting and some standard informative documents), to be repeated periodically for new hired employees;
- first aid training for those workers appointed as responsible of such specific internal support;
- fire prevention training for those workers appointed as responsible of such specific internal support;
- employee's representative training: for those employees elected from the others to represent the staff in front of employer and Third Parties (company doctor, public offices, labour unions etc.);
- responsible of the prevention and protection service: the person with this role can be appointed from the employer inside (among the employees) or outside the company (as self employed and independent consultant), but in any case such person must attend the specific basic training courses usually for a minimum of 40 hours) and periodical update courses every 2 or 3 years;
- customized training: if workers are using office equipments, are working in warehouses and logistic, or are driving cars, or doing any other activity, they should be submitted to customized training adequate to the specific accident risk typical of their own job position: e.g. safe driving, warehouse logistic, ergonomic in offices etc;
- language training: among employer's obligations with international staff, there is also the obligation to allow each worker, independently from the language spoken, to well recognize any indication of danger/risk in the company, company policies and work safety rules. For this reason often are needed some customized training for specific ethic groups, with related tests of understanding, which allow the employer to prove in case of accident to have done all the possible to prevent the risk. The lack of such prove might cause a void trial of damage recovery by public or private accident insurances.
